We are based in Bournemouth and Weymouth is the far end of where we work. About an hour along the coast, and a town where the sea decides most of what goes wrong with a roof.

We travel for Weymouth, so it is worth saying what that means
Weymouth is about thirty miles west of us and roughly an hour on the road each way. We would rather you knew that before you rang than after. What it means in practice is simple enough. For a re-roof, a flat roof, a full roofline or anything with scaffold on it, the distance makes no difference to you at all. We are there for the week, the price is the price, and there is no travel charge on top. For a single slipped tile it is a different sum, and we will say so honestly rather than quoting you a call-out that is mostly diesel. Often the right answer for a small job is somebody five minutes away, and we will tell you that. What the sea does to a Weymouth roof is the other half of it. The town faces open water across Weymouth Bay, so wind arrives with nothing to slow it down and it arrives carrying salt. Salt does not eat tiles. It eats the metal and the mortar holding everything together. Nails corrode, clips give up, ridge mortar gets stripped out of its joints, and flashing that was dressed a little loose starts lifting at the top edge. So Weymouth roofs usually need attention at the details a long time before the covering itself has anything wrong with it. That is a repair, not a new roof, and it is worth having someone say that plainly.
- About an hour each way, and no travel charge on a proper job
- For a very small repair we will tell you if a local firm makes more sense
- Salt attacks the metal and the mortar first, not the tiles
WeymouthWhat we do in Weymouth
The same services everywhere we work, but an exposed seafront town shifts the emphasis. Pick the one closest to your problem.
Roof Repairs
Storm Damage RepairsOpen bay, open Channel behind it. Wind uplift takes ridge and verge here before it takes anything else.
Ridge & Hip Re-PointingSalt-laden wind strips mortar out of ridge joints. On a roof this exposed, dry ridge earns its cost back.
Roof Leak RepairsIf it only leaks when the wind is onshore, that is wind-driven rain finding a detail rather than a failed roof.
Roof Replacement
Tiled RoofsThe post-war housing behind the seafront. Stripped back to the rafters and relaid, never covered over.
Slate RoofsOn unlisted period property. Coastal slate roofs usually fail at the nail rather than at the slate.
Extension RoofsWhere a new roof meets an old one is the joint that leaks. On this coast it needs lead, not mortar.
New Build RoofsPriced from the drawings. On an exposed plot the fixing specification matters more than the tile does.
Flat Roofing
EPDM Rubber RoofingGarages and rear extensions. Cold applied, one piece, and no seam for onshore wind to get under.
GRP Fibreglass RoofingWhere the flat roof gets walked on. It needs a sound deck, which we check before we recommend it.
Felt & Torch-On RoofingLarger flat roofs, laid in bonded layers to a manufacturer backed specification.

Owners on every job
How a Weymouth job runs
The same five stages everywhere. What changes here is that we plan the travel around them rather than the other way round.
We come and look at the roof
One trip, and we make it count. Tell us everything that is bothering you when you call, including the small things, so we can look at all of it while we are there rather than coming back for the second item.
Scaffold goes up and materials arrive
Booked to land together, because an hour away is a long way to drive to find the scaffold is not up. On the seafront roads we check parking and loading before we set a start date.
The old roof comes off
Stripped back to the rafters and the timbers checked while they are open. On a coastal roof we expect corroded nails and perished clips, and we price the fixings accordingly.
New felt, battens and covering go on
Proctor Air breathable felt, new battens, then the covering fitted to manufacturer spec. Dry ridge and dry verge are worth discussing here, because mortar has a hard life this close to the sea.
We clear up and hand it over
Site cleared, waste away, guarantee issued. Being an hour off does not change the guarantee. If something goes wrong we come back, and we say that knowing the drive.
The kind of work an exposed coastal roof needs
Our own work. No stock photography.

What Weymouth callers ask us
Mostly about the distance, and they are right to ask.
Do you actually come out this far?
Yes, for work that justifies the trip. A re-roof, a flat roof, a roofline replacement or a proper repair, all of that is fine and there is no travel charge on top. For one slipped tile we will be straight with you and say a local firm is the better call.
What happens if something goes wrong later?
We come back. The guarantee on a roof we install is 15 to 20 years and the drive does not change it. We would rather turn a job down at the start than take one we are not willing to return to.
My house is on the seafront and it is listed
Then we are not your firm, and we will say so on the first visit. Much of the Georgian frontage along the Esplanade is listed, and listed and heritage roofing is skilled conservation work with its own consents and its own specialists. We do not take it on at any price.
Roofing questions from Weymouth
Do you charge extra to travel to Weymouth?
No. On a job with scaffold on it, a flat roof or a full roofline, the price is the price and the travel is ours to sort. Where distance genuinely does not stack up is a single very small repair, and we will tell you that on the phone rather than after.
Do you work on listed buildings in Weymouth?
No. Much of the Georgian and Victorian seafront along the Esplanade is listed, and we do not take on listed or heritage roofing at all. If yours is one of them we will say so straight away and point you towards a conservation specialist.
Does being on the coast really make a difference to a roof?
Yes, and mostly to the metal and the mortar rather than the tiles. Salt-laden wind corrodes nails and clips, strips mortar out of ridge joints and lifts flashing at the top edge. It is why so many coastal roofs need a repair at the details long before the covering is finished.
How much does a re-roof cost in Weymouth?
It follows the size and pitch of the roof and how easy the access is, the same as anywhere. A full domestic re-roof is normally somewhere between 10,000 and 20,000 pounds. We come and look, then give you a written figure rather than a range.
Do you cover Portland, Chickerell and the villages around Weymouth?
Usually yes, on the same basis. Tell us the postcode and what the job is when you call and we will confirm honestly rather than guess.
Do you come out at night or at weekends?
No. We do leak repairs and make-safe work during the working day, and we would rather tell you that than have you waiting on someone who is not coming.
